Me and Me

Izumi Miyazaki
In Japanese and English

The first collection by a rising star of the SNS generation.

With her signature bob haircut, Izumi Miyazaki pops up everywhere in her photos, floating, split in half, multiplying amid objects and settings that should look familiar, but that have been transfigured by her surrealistic and ironically humorous outlook. Since her college days, her works have wowed viewers on Tumblr, attracting coverage by Time, Libération, and CNN; her attention on the self is at once a satiric take on her own selfie-obsessed SNS generation and an evolution of the time-honored photographic genre of self-portraiture. This aptly titled first collection presents Miyazaki at the start of what is sure to be a groundbreaking—and fun!—professional career.
Izumi Miyazaki was born in 1994 and graduated from Musashino Art University in 2016. While still a student she began posting fantastical self-portrait photographs on Tumblr, gaining an instant Internet following. Now a professional photographer, she exhibits both in Japan and overseas.
